Helen is certified in Materials Management. She came to QuickSet as an assistant to the Purchasing Manager and was then promoted to the position of Purchasing Manager. She explains what she likes about her position: “I like the fast pace and the interaction that I have with people within and out of QuickSet on a regular basis.”

In 2000, Helen participated in the reorganization from assembly lines to the current cellular fabrication scheme (Kan Ban). This allows our production employees to be responsible for the entire construction of a manufactured part, rather than assembling a piece of the finished product. This change affected the way that purchasing was done, which is why QuickSet changed to a Vendor Management Inventory (VMI) Kan Ban system.

Helen explains the VMI system: “Prior to the current way of purchasing material, all parts and materials required a purchase order for re-supplying materials stock. We now have most of our parts and materials on the VMI system. When we are in need of certain parts of materials, we can scan an inventory bar code which communicates to our vendor the need to restock that particular part or material.”

Helen makes up a large part of the production team that helps expedite parts and materials to our production staff that manufactures QuickSet products to meet our customers’ product demands.
