The Importance of Compatibility
From the infant stages of designing the Knox products, our engineers strive to make our machines as friendly as possible. Our front panel controllers are intuitive, most with directions screen printed directly on the machine. Even the most inexperienced user should be able to learn the procedures within a matter of minutes. However, the most important compatibility concern must certainly be the issue of remote control. This is an area in which Knox excels.
All Knox Video products come standard with an RS232 serial port for remote control, and all can be ordered with optional IP control as well. Our Simple Ascii Strings (SAS), have been standardized for all of the Knox product lines. The strings themselves are as short and logical as possible. For most programmers, it takes only a matter of minutes to memorize our entire library. We offer a variety of remote control options, such as desktop and rackmount keypads, and proprietary Windows compatible control software. In many situations, our remote controls are all the integrator needs, however there are those installations where the user demands something extra. Perhaps the installation is going to be in a high profile environment; what other options are available for a more visually appealing and user-friendly control interface? Fortunately, there are numerous options offered from a variety of companies that specialize in nothing but controlling other manufacturer’s equipment.
At Knox, we believe the more we can do for the customer, the more the customer will want to come back. Our machines are often coupled with these third party control systems. If the modules are already written for the controller, there is one less obstacle for the integrator. That is precisely why we go to great lengths to form partnerships with companies such as Crestron, AMX, and Control 4. We have been a certified Crestron partner for many years, and most recently added AMX and Control 4 to our list of preprogrammed and compatible remote control devices. These partnerships are mutually beneficial to both companies involved, as well as the integrators, who no longer have to worry if the devices will mesh properly. While Knox products are compatible with any device that is capable of sending serial or IP command strings, these companies have committed to facilitate a product that insures the entire installation runs smoothly. This partnership assures the integrator that his project will come off without a hitch, and demonstrates Knox’s commitment to standing behind its customers, not just its products.
