Come see our factory!
This month's newsletter highlights the changes we've experienced in our manufacturing department over past several years. When I came to this company under two years ago, I was most impressed with the breadth of applications for our tripods, positioners, and the underlying technology that makes them so robust and reliable. The manufacturing floor wasn't much to look at: It was piled floor-to-ceiling with inventory (much of it obsolete) and we had yet to fully implement our first cellular manufacturing line. A big part of my job has been to develop and execute a strategy for new product development starting from our component legacy products and progressing towards smart, integrated and versatile systems. Hidden behind all the technology was the fact that we were producing over 1300 distinct products for over 4000 different customers. We needed to improve our operation to reduce our lead-time, eliminate our quality problems, and lower our operating costs. Hand-in-hand with the introduction of new products has been the transformation of our manufacturing operations.
Today, the manufacturing floor is a model of cleanliness and efficiency. The impact to the employees of QuickSet is readily apparent: The working environment is open, inviting, and employees are cross-trained in a variety of skills across several product lines. You, the customer, should also see an impact with noted improvements in the quality and on-time delivery of our products. QuickSet has been transformed with exciting new products and with a vibrant, productive and efficient manufacturing operation.
We are proud of what we've achieved. Those who were here before are amazed by the transformation. In the past few weeks many customers and both our Illinois State Representative and our United States Congressman have visited us. One of them was so impressed that we were asked to film a campaign video on our manufacturing floor! So, come visit us...please! Old or new, as a customer you are always welcome at QuickSet.
