Rudy Merz has been part of the QuickSet team for 20 years.  Rudy has always been a sales representative.   At one point he was the only sales representative for QuickSet.  Currently, Rudy is the Director of Export Sales and Business Development.  He is a native of Germany. Before working at QuickSet, he worked at Carl Zeiss in Germany in the medical division.  Carl Zeiss manufactures optical instruments ranging from basic research microscopes to the award winning Electron Microscope and Spectroscopy products.  Rudy ended up in the United States because he was transferred to Carl Zeiss Headquarters in New York City.  He spent two years in the Carl Zeiss Japan office in Tokyo.  Finally, Rudy ended up back in the United States (California and finally Chicago). 

Rudy attended the Max Blank Institute in Germany where he majored in physics and minored in precision mechanical engineering.  The practical requirement of his school was performed hands on at the Carl Zeiss training facilities.  Rudy was sent in the field to find upgrade solutions to existing products and to design new optical instruments.  In the field he was always accompanied by doctors that belonged to medical centers ranging from divisions of pathology, neurology, to ophthalmology, etc. Rudy explains, “This too was a challenging and rewarding job.  I would still be with Carl Zeiss if they had not demanded for me to move to the headquarters in New York City for good.  However, the only way Rudy likes to see New York City is in my rear view mirror of my car”.  Rudy Merz states, “Every day is a challenge and I thrive on challenges. Working together with customers on a daily basis and meeting many people world-wide is on the best things about my job, and we have a product that I believe in and am proud of.”    Rudy wants to make it very clear to our customers that “I work for the customers of QuickSet”.
